Translation Technology at Illinois

Our program integrates a variety of translation technologies to prepare students for the real world of professional translation and interpreting.

We offer a dedicated CAT (Computer Assisted Translation) tools course that will get you up to speed on the latest translation management systems, term management tools, term extraction tools, and corpus analysis.

We also offer a dedicated terminology course that includes both theoretical and practical aspects of terminology, including some of the leading terminology management tools.

Our instructors also integrate translation technologies into their courses, and some require use of specific tools to complete homework assignments. We encourage all students to learn as many tools as they can during their time in our program.

All tools are provided at no cost to students enrolled in the MA Program in Translation and Interpreting Studies. Most tools are governed by an educational license mandating that the tools be used for educational purposes only.
